VALOI easy120 Medium Format Holder 6x6

VALOI masks are specially designed for use with both the VALOI Advancer and film holders when used on their own.

They are an optional accessory for scanning smaller film formats. Although the film holders can generally also be used with smaller formats, certain setups may result in stray light (which can cause blurring in the lens), reflections on the film or reduced contrast.

In these cases, when a smaller film format than the format of the VALOI holder is to be scanned, the VALOI mask can be used to avoid such problems.

The masks are not always necessary for everyone, but they ensure maximum safety for the best possible results.

Four different masks are available, which can be combined with the corresponding holders:

For medium format (VALOI 120 Holder):

4.5x6cm

6x6cm

6x7cm.

For 35mm / 35mm (VALOI 35mm Holder):

35mm Half Frame / Half Format.

To use a mask, the corresponding holder must be ordered separately.

The easy120 offers four variants of medium format holders: a universal holder suitable for all medium format roll films up to 6x6, and three format-specific holders. These format-specific holders are equipped with an aperture precisely matched to the film format, which blocks out excess light. This design allows for perfect framing for your specific 120 film.

These holders fit into the easy120 system like any other compatible holder. Each holder can be easily replaced using the new locking mechanism.

Similar to the VALOI 120 holder for our 360 system, the easy120 holders for medium format are:

Designed for maximum flatness with a double S-shaped curved rail that mechanically smooths the film

Prevents reflections: matte black plastic and strategic anti-reflection angles

Fast feed system: push or pull the film through, no fiddling with conventional clamshell designs

Minimises vignetting at the edges with a bevelled design under the film

Optimised for whole rolls – it also works with cut strips, but the flatness may vary

In use

VALOI easy120 holders work by guiding the film through a thin slot that runs through the entire holder and exits on the other side. This allows you to easily push or pull the film through the entire slot, saving you time and effort compared to a traditional clamp holder.

All VALOI holders are equipped with a double S-curve, where the slot through which the film is fed is curved before and after the scan opening. By slightly bending the film in one direction on both sides, greater flatness is achieved than would be possible with a straight slot.

Holder locking mechanism

The metal housing of the easy120 features a spring-loaded ball bearing system to secure the film holder. Inserting the holder is as simple as pressing it in until it clicks into place. This locking mechanism holds the film holder securely in place while still allowing for easy and effortless removal. It ensures quick and precise operation without tools and provides an incredibly satisfying user experience.

Compatibility

It is compatible with all easy120 devices. This holder is not compatible with the VALOI 360 system or the VALOI easy35 system.
