Silberra Ultima 200 / 135-36 black and white film - the first new film from Russia ! Expired 04/2023

Silberra ULTIMA200 is a panchromatic negative black and white photographic film with an ISO of 200. Fine grain, wide tonal range, perfect sharpness and moderate contrast are typical for Silberra ULTIMA200 films. The Silberra ULTIMA series is characterised by a low substrate thickness. With a thickness of 0.8 mm, this film enables easier hybrid processing: more details are visible in the negative with the same light source power.

Here are the main features of the Silberra ULTIMA series:
1) Low noise, low haze and extremely fine grain are the special characteristics of the emulsion used for Silberra ULTIMA films.
2) Silberra ULTIMA film has been derived from Agfa films for surveillance by expanding the dynamic range, reducing contrast and saving various special effects. These include:

Extremely high resolution and ideal image sharpness;
ability to provide a superior level of detail across the tonal range;
higher sensitivity to the near IR spectrum, which not only gives you near IR effects when photographing landscapes, but also provides better detalisation at dusk or in scenes with insufficient light;
3) The emulsion is applied to a clear polyester base that offers ultimate material stability and perfect optical properties. The thickness of the substrate is 0.06 mm and the outer surface provides an excellent anti-halo layer to achieve excellent image sharpness.
4) Silberra ULTIMA film has a special anti-curling layer that greatly simplifies drying (additional weights or clips on the underside of the strip are not required during drying: the film does not curl);
5) Special formulas of the polyester base and protective layers provide scratch resistance, prevent water marks and offer built-in anti-static properties.
6) Lower substrate thickness adds another feature: Silberra ULTIMA has lower light emitting element requirements in scanners and enlargers. If you store the image density yourself, you can achieve better results with lower light source power.

The Silberra ULTIMA series is ideal for use in street photography, portrait photography, landscape and architectural photography. The 2-layer emulsion is ideal for use in twilight / dawn, winter and complicated lighting conditions due to its special properties.

The development process (depending on the developer) can bring in the final image with characteristics such as hard shine in bright areas accompanied by very detailed shadows, or make the final image reasonable along the entire light spectrum.

Silberra ULTIMA film is optimal for use in natural light. Use of the film in artificial light is subject to preliminary testing due to its high sensitivity in the red and near-infrared light spectrum. We recommend taking several images and processing them in studios before any professional photo session. The choice of colour temperature of artificial light sources and their performance is crucial to achieve predictably perfect results.

Silberra ULTIMA200 can deliver an excellent image in cloudy weather, in fog and at dusk. The final image contains perfect shadow detail while maintaining overall resolution (200 lines / mm at 1000: 1 TOC contrast).

Officially the exposure range for Silberra ULTIMA200 - 125, 200 and 320ISO. Reducing sensitivity below 125 may result in a loss of appropriate contrast, while increasing sensitivity above 320 may increase graininess and noise.

Using yellow filters provides increased contrast and reduces the overall sensitivity of the emulsion. When using the filters, you need to consider the next exposure multipliers (besides the filter coefficient itself):
Yellow filter - 1.5;
Dark yellow / orange filter - 1.8;
Red filter - 2 or 3 depending on the wavelength of the filter;

The archival storage capacity of Silberra ULTIMA200 is practically not confirmed. The guaranteed archival storage time is thus stated to be over 10 years without loss of image quality. Silberra recommends archiving with special archiving slides (triacetate, parchment paper) in a cold, dry place (below 20 degrees Celsius).

Silberra is best described as a young and experienced company. We have been producing chemicals for analogue photography since 2009. However, the brand itself was founded in spring 2017. There are only two co-founders of Silberra: Vladimir Vishnevsky, professional photographer, and Konstantin Shabanov, professional manager.
