Thanks to the two interchangeable modules and the multi-format roll, the tank can be used for 35mm 35mm films as well as 120 roll films

The Lab-Box can be regarded as the spiritual successor of the Agfa Rodinax and is a modern daylight film processing container with many improvements that make film processing even easier. The Lab-Box first saw the light of day about two years ago as a kick-start financing project launched by our Italian-Swiss colleagues from Ars-Imago. The crowdfunding project was very successful and, despite some delays, the Lab Box is now open to the general public.

Lab-Box is a multi-format film developing tank that allows you to develop films in full daylight throughout the entire process from start to finish. It is no longer necessary to load your films onto film spools in a completely dark room, which drastically simplifies and speeds up the development process. Because with the Lab-Box you can rinse films into the tank in daylight without seeing light. This makes it possible to develop your films anytime and anywhere. Thanks to the interchangeable modules and the multi-format film spiral, the tank is suitable for developing both 35mm and 120mm film. This tank is supplied with both modules.

Insert the film into the tank:
Module 135 is suitable for developing all 35mm films and has a film slot in which the 35mm cassette is positioned and locked. The film is then clipped on so that it can be inserted correctly into the film guide. Once the film is correctly positioned, the lid of the lab box can be closed and loading of the film onto the spiral can be started by turning the knob on the outside of the tank. Once the film is fully loaded, it is separated from the cartridge by the integrated cutting blade in the tank.

The 120 module is equipped with two compartments: The roll is located in the upper compartment and the film is automatically loaded in the lower compartment. Once the cover is closed, remove the black paper through the slot on the back to automatically load the film into the second compartment, protected from light. When this process is complete, the cover can be opened to attach the film, then closed to turn the outer knob and place the film on the roll.

Development and agitation
As soon as the film is loaded onto the spiral, the actual development can begin. The chemicals are simply poured into the tank at the front of the lid. The Lab-Box allows you to immerse all or part of the film spiral in the photochemistry, so you can experiment with different types of movement (continuous or intermittent). Once the chemicals are in the tank, they can be stirred as required by turning the outer knob of the tank, which allows the film to rotate spirally so that the chemicals can flow through it properly for uniform development. Emptying the tank is as easy as filling it, whereas when the Lab-Box is poured out, the chemicals leave the front part of the lid again.

Modern design: Lab-Box is a project of ars-imago and was designed by VIVO Design Studio (Rome, Italy). After a careful testing and evaluation process, ars-imago has optimised the final tank size and simplified the design to deliver a product that is both robust and easy to use. Lab-Box is available in three colours: orange, green and black.

Attention: The Lab-Box cannot be used with films that have a P.E.T. film base. The 120 roll films and 35mm films with such a base can hardly or not at all be loaded into the modules of the Lab-Box. At present the following films have a P.E.T. film base: JCH 400, Rollei Infrared, Rollei 80s, Rollei 400s, Fomapan 100, Fomapan 200, Fomapan 400, Bergger Pancro 400 and CatLABS X 80.

The tanks come with black or orange lids! Not selectable!
