INTREPID 8x10 Camera - Black Bellows

Weighing only 2.8 kg, this is the lightest and most compact 8x10 film camera ever made. Now in its 4th generation, it is by far our most sophisticated and advanced camera. This model features a number of new features, including precise zeroing guides, a bail-back system, lockable zeroing stops, a full range of motion, reinforced front panel controls, and quick-action locks to secure the back plate (lenses/accessories not included). Features:

The front standard has a full range of independently controllable up/down, tilt, shift and pan movements. The rear standard has a large tilt range in both directions. The front features guides for absolute precision and zero position stops for maximum accuracy.

The camera is lightweight yet incredibly sturdy and secure when set up and locked in place. The aluminium base and linear focus ensure maximum stability, regardless of how heavy the lens used is.

Focusing is done from the rear, making it quick to operate even under a dark cloth, while the linear guides allow for razor-sharp focusing.

The rear panel is held securely in place by strong magnets and reinforced by two lockable clips on each side. Simply slide the clips upwards to remove the rear panel and quickly switch between landscape and portrait formats.

The ground glass screen is super bright with a half-inch grid, and we have an additional Fresnel lens that can be attached, which is especially useful with wide-angle lenses.

You can use all standard Copal shutter lenses in 8x10 format from 180 mm to 550 mm. With the Intrepid lens adapter, you can also use lenses mounted on Intrepid 4x5 lens plates.

When not in use, the camera can be folded flat, making it very easy to transport.

Materials

Intrepid manufactures and assembles all Intrepid cameras in its workshop in Brighton, UK.

The front and back of the Intrepid 8x10 are made from sustainably sourced, furniture-grade birch plywood, which is treated by hand with a wax/oil sealant to protect the wood.

The base and support parts of the camera are made from hard-coated, black anodised aluminium. The other support parts of the camera are manufactured in-house using high-quality PETG in a 3D printing process.

The Intrepid ground glass screens are ground in the workshop to ensure optimum brightness and clarity and then laser-engraved with a 1.27 mm grid.

The bellows are made of waterproof, extremely durable vinyl with a three-layer opaque lining and are folded by hand in our workshop. The bellows of the Intrepid 8x10 are available in black, blue, green or red.
